Bird, 62 and semi-retired, apparently has decided to hold onto his $5 million, 6,007-square-foot, custom-built waterfront home that overlooks the Venetian Bay, after years of trying to sell it. According to Collier County records, the home is still in Bird's name and a search of real estate listings shows the house is no longer on the market. Although league rules provide access to the locker room after a 10-minute cooling-off period, the training room remains off limits. And the Celtics’ starters -- who, along with sixth man McHale, average more minutes played per game than any other team in the league -- spend a lot of time there. The French Lick native attended Springs Valley High School in Indiana and played college ball at Vincennes University where he also started his coaching career in 1967.
